Combat mechanic
Attribute Anomaly
The attribute-linked effect inflicted when an enemy's Anomaly Buildup reaches its limit.
← All systemsDefinition
How it works.
- Attacks and skills that inflict Anomaly Buildup fill the enemy's gauge for that Attribute.
- When the gauge reaches its limit, the corresponding Attribute Anomaly is inflicted.
- The result depends on the Attribute and on the Agents that contributed to the buildup.
Attribute effects
What the trigger inflicts.
These are the standard effect families. Special Attributes and individual kits can change the route or the calculation.
Physical
Assault · Flinch
Assault deals Physical damage and interrupts. Flinch increases the Daze the target takes for a period.
Fire
Burn
Burn deals Fire damage over time. Application can interrupt enemies weak to Fire.
Ice
Freeze · Shatter · Frostbite
Freeze stops action; ending it causes Shatter damage. Frostbite increases CRIT DMG taken for a period.
Electric
Shock
Attacks against a Shocked target can cause additional Electric damage during the effect.
Ether
Corruption
Attacks against a Corrupted target can cause additional Ether damage during the effect.
Wind
Windswept
Windswept follows its own interaction path: eligible follow-up damage establishes Contamination, and Vortex replaces the usual Disorder route.

Application rules
Why a full gauge may not fire.
“Diminishing returns” mixes several different limits. Keep the cooldown, resistance, contributor mix, and repeat-trigger research separate.
Historically tested
ICD — internal cooldown
A normal Attribute Anomaly cannot be retriggered immediately. Controlled v1.1 testing measured a roughly three-second lock for the same anomaly; a current v3.1 regression test is still needed.
Historically tested
A full gauge may wait
In the v1.1 test, the capped gauge did not trigger automatically when the lock expired; a subsequent eligible buildup hit triggered it. Excess buildup while capped could be lost.
Current mechanic
Resistance changes buildup
Enemy Anomaly Buildup RES changes how much effective buildup a move contributes. Exact stacking, caps, and negative-RES behavior belong in a tested formula note.
Clarification
Not generic stat diminishing returns
AM and AP scale their base roles linearly. Practical saturation comes from ICD, resistance, and contributor mix—not an intrinsic AM or AP penalty. Older mechanics references reported repeated-trigger threshold growth, but its current v3.1 behavior and reset condition are unverified.
Reactions and exceptions
What happens after the trigger.
Base reactions, special Attributes, and Agent mechanics are related—but they are not interchangeable layers of the system.
Base system
Disorder
A different eligible anomaly replaces the active one, dealing additional damage and accumulating Daze. Normal Disorder historically produced a wider ICD lock.

Vortex
Windswept plus another anomaly triggers Vortex instead of normal Disorder. Its exact coefficients and retrigger timing remain open.

Abloom
Certain Agent skills use an existing Attribute Anomaly to deal additional Attribute Anomaly damage. The triggering skill defines the calculation.

Polarized Assault
Alice's named Assault mechanic can ignore normal buildup progress. It is not a generic category called “Polarize.”

Polarity Disorder
A distinct special trigger that deals extra damage without removing the active Attribute Anomaly.

Lumiflux · Refringe
Lumiflux uses its own buildup and reaction rules. It should not be described as simply filling a normal gauge to inflict a Lumiflux Anomaly.

What the math is made from.
The formulas below are a map of the inputs, not a promise that every special mechanic uses the same coefficients.
Historical mechanics model — needs v3.1 regression
Buildup map
Base Buildup × (AM ÷ 100) × buildup bonuses × target RES modifier
Baseline model — special mechanics can replace it
Damage map
Base Anomaly DMG × (AP × 0.01) × level and combat modifiers
Current wording, open calculation — needs instrumentation
Contributor model
The result reflects the Agents that contributed buildup and their respective shares.
Why it matters
What it changes.
Attribute Anomaly connects application speed, the resulting effect, reaction timing, and damage. Reading those as separate layers makes team and rotation advice much easier to evaluate.
- Anomaly Mastery (AM)
- Scales how quickly an Agent applies Anomaly Buildup. At the base-stat level, more AM means more buildup from the same move.
- Anomaly Proficiency (AP)
- Scales Attribute Anomaly damage. It does not make the buildup gauge fill faster.
Common confusion
Buildup is not the trigger
Anomaly Buildup fills the gauge. Attribute Anomaly is the effect inflicted when that gauge reaches its limit. Anomaly is also an Agent specialty, so the same word can refer to a role rather than the combat effect.
